Join artist Robin York for a Valentine’s themed Batik Workshop on Thursday, February 8 from 4pm-7pm. Batik is a “resist” process for making designs on fabric. The artist uses wax to prevent dye from penetrating the cloth, leaving “blank” areas in the dyed fabric. The process, wax resist then dye, can be repeated over and over to create complex multicolored designs. Robin will expertly lead you step by step as you create your own batik creation during this three hour class.
Students will gather at Dare County Arts Council between 4pm and 7pm. Cost for each class is only $35 for DCAC members or $45 for nonmembers, and include all supplies. Perfect for anyone ages 16 and up, and it’s open to all skill levels – beginner to advanced.
Robin earned her Masters Degree in art from East Carolina University. She is an award winning artist who taught art at Manteo High School for many years. Robin is now an instructor with College of the Albemarle in Manteo.
Pre-registration is required. To register, please call DCAC at 252-473-5558 or visit DareArts.org/workshops.
