Blue Lodges of the Albemarle Exhibit Opening @ Museum of the Albemarle
Mar 16 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Join us on Saturday, March 16th at 10 am as we open our latest small exhibit, Blue Lodges of the Albemarle.

Rachel Asbury Cole, Curatorial Intern with Colonial Williamsburg will speak at 10:30 am on “A Rare and Dignified Survival: A Closer Look at the Bucktrout Masonic Master’s Chair.

Refreshments will be provided by Elizabeth City Chapter No. 44 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

This exhibition recognizes our Albemarle region’s Freemasons and the charitable works they perform in and around their communities. A fascinating assortment of artifacts, from several Albemarle Masonic Lodges, reveal both the fraternity’s rich history in Northeastern North Carolina and their time-honored philanthropic heritage.

Freemasons join in fellowship for not only their own personal enrichment but for that of the communities in which they live and work, as well. Among this eclectic collection: A North Carolina Masonic Lodge manual, a lodge ballot box, and a Masonic master’s chair. These objects, some familiar and some seldom seen, acknowledge Freemasonry’s significance and vocation here in the Albemarle.

Blue Lodges of the Albemarle remains on view through the end of 2019.

FREE and open to the public. Call (252) 331-4037 for more information.
